Dr. John Heath "Doc" Ball 1998
Doc Ball grew up on the beaches of Los Angeles in the early 1930's. He was instrumental in establishing surfing on the West Coast and helped organize the Palos Verdes Surf Club. His hobby of taking surfing pictures turned into a passion and in 1946 he published a book that contained much of his early works. Now in his nineties he continues to live the surf lifestyle.
