| Rabbit
Kekai 2001
A living legend one of the last of the Waikiki "beachboys"
that began his surfing with Duke Kahanomoku in the Thirties.
Rabbit was a successful competitor in the early Hawaii
surf contests like the International Makaha Championships
of the '50's and still competes and wins seniors events
today. He also pioneered surfing the fabled North Shore,
which today is the mecca each winter for the modern
surfing community. Rabbit is still on his favorite beaches
of Waikiki, surfing as the elder statesmen of the Waikiki
"beachboys", something he has been a part
for seventy years.
